Oxford dictionary defines, annihilate= to destroy completely. Nirvana= the state of peace and happiness that a person achieves after giving up all personal desires.
I came to know the word,'enlightenment', when I read about Buddha, that he got enlightenment after 24 births and he became Buddha and got nirvana= annihilation.
